Ruby would actually cry if she was sick and couldn’t go to school. “But my teacher and class mates will miss me”, she would say. Only after I told her I had called to let them know she was sick and that she would be in tomorrow would she be okay. If we had to pick her up early for an appointment she would be just as upset. She was missing her work or what her teacher was saying. I’ve witnessed many children crying, not because they were going to school, but because they were leaving. Ruby has gone here for 4 years.
